New Skins/Models

Post  Kirito on Tue Feb 12, 2013 2:11 am

Hello it's Kirito.
I'm not sure if you already though about it.. but it would be quite refreshing, if some new models/skins would be induced... e.g. for the Time mage (I'm sorry to say so, but i rlly think it does not fit..) And there are many models of Final Fantasy Jobs.. so it wouldn't be so difficult of thinking to add them, right?
You will find many of such Models..
Well.. it wa sjust an idea...
Greetings
Kirito

Perhaps people can tell what skins they think would fit better and even link to where they can be downloaded?

It's not to hard to make skins, rather its a waste of gamespace to use them. I'm fine just using the base skins and saving any customs for 1shot enemies *Though Eden was a creative combination to create a new effect*

That would increase the map's file size by, like, 1000%.

Not impossible... Just not practical. Though thinking about it now, can you script the models? If so, you could have it check for custom models, if they exist use them, if not, just use the defaults. Then have the models as an optional download from here... Never transferred by the map, and applies clientside only. Of course, then we have to make/find the models.

No you can't script the models, but warcraft allows you to overwrite files. You can enable local files and overwrite a character on every map by placing it's model in the warcraft folder or you can simply place the model in a map file. E.g. placing a model in "units\human\Militia\Militia.mdl" in the map will replace the squire. There was a modified 0.9.2 version with custom models.

Can't you do things like they did with one map called choice battle they have map which is like less then 8 Mb and they have a folder for models and songs which you put in war3 so basically the entire map has over 100 Mb but the map is only 8 so you can play it multiplayer Smile
