we were playing 3 good hours of quests gaming in a lan game and suddenly... all of the game frosted!
telling us about this "thedudeabides" detected

quite irritating

what did we do to end in such?

a little help please?

Aahhhh, this fun one. I thought there was a thread around here somewhere for it already... I actually have no clue about it, but I see it quite rarely.
What I think I know... It's an error that comes out of WCIII itself, mapmakers don't cause it and can't control it. The FFERPG devs know enough about it to know it's almost unfixable/untraceable.

thedudeabides is a cheat... and what kicked you out of the game is the protection for the cheat. How did it even get triggered :S

Huh. I didn't know that. Hmm... Can you force a save for all players then disable saving, the moment a cheat is entered? Or do you really want people not cheating through it, even if they don't get levels?

how could it possibly be cheat when it is in LAN game?
is there any other means to cheat in a multiplayer?
plz enlighten me so as not to end up with it again

It is the map's cheat protection... it shouldn't be activated unless the cheat is activated. 0.9.2 has cheat protection against whosyourdaddy, thereisnospoon, thedudeabides and any resource cheats. Unfortunately, the thedudeabides cheat is not as easy to detect as the others and as you may have noticed, it is quite glitchy...

Hence change its reaction to something kinder when it's bugged, but still sufficient when it is deliberate/malicious.

that explains it... what confuses me is that how had we provoke it hence we did not cheat at all?

Is it possible just to flag the cheats when someone litterally types them? Like If the chatlog registers that I have "whosyourdaddy" it'll come and deny me? Or do you HAVE to trace it to when its truely activated to deny it?

You have to trace it. You cannot catch the player as he types in the cheat, cause it doesn't activate a chat event.

I still stand by my suggestion. I have yet to see it even acknowledged, letalone rebuked.
(I still feel guilty about being the guy that won't let go.)
